Work out the return leg before you accept anything. Not the outbound one.

The last bus, the last train, the point where a taxi fare stops being a rounding error and starts being the job's earnings. A job two towns away finishing at midnight is a job that costs money, and the number that matters is what you keep after getting home, not what you are handed at the door.

If you have a shift tomorrow, working until two in the morning to earn a fraction of it is a bad trade, and it puts the shift itself at risk. That is the clearest case there is.

If every remaining option needs a car you do not have, or ends somewhere you cannot get back from, the evening is closed and no amount of scrolling will reopen it.
